Drake Center: Specialized Medical & Rehabilitative Care

Dr. Larisa Gelman

Thousands of miles span the route from Ukraine to Cincinnati, Ohio. But Dr. Larisa Gelman’s career pursuits led her down just that path. An attending physician for Drake Center’s Medically Complex Rehabilitation Program, Dr. Gelman has been with the facility since 1998. She now devotes much of her time to Drake Center’s outpatient Wound Management program.

Dr. Gelman also specializes in helping patients through Drake Center’s unique, comprehensive, and highly successful program designed to assist individuals who have been unable to wean from mechanical ventilation. Becoming less dependent on a ventilator for breathing can be a long and difficult process. Dr. Gelman and the Drake Center team use the most advanced technology in the long-term treatment of medically complex conditions.

Dr. Gelman received her medical training at the Vinnitsa Medical Institute in Ukraine. She then served as a primary care physician in a Ukraine city hospital for nearly eight years. In 1994 she came to Cincinnati, where she completed a residency in internal medicine at Jewish Hospital.

Board-certified in internal medicine in 1999, Dr. Gelman is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Internal Medicine.
